FBI Newark Seeks Murder Suspect Now Wanted on Federal Charges
May 18, 2026 - FBI Newark announces federal charges for a man wanted in connection with the murders of a woman and her 6-year-old son in Burlington County, New Jersey, in 2017. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and Maple Shade Police charged Nazeer Hameed with two counts of first-degree murder. Hameed fled to India and now faces federal charges for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in the District of New Jersey. FBI Newark is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Investigators say Hameed was stalking Hanumanth Narra, the husband and father of the two victims. They allege that he murdered Sasikala Narra and her 6-year-old son Anish Narra in their apartment in Maple Shade, New Jersey, on March 23, 2017. Detectives identified Hameed as a person of interest, but he fled to India where he’s believed to currently be living. Burlington County prosecutors also charged Hameed with two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
