FBI Anchorage Participates in Alaska HIDTA’s ‘Catch and Detain’ Campaign Targeting Drug Trafficking Networks in Alaska
Advertising campaign encourages public reporting
December 2, 2025 - The FBI Anchorage Field Office is participating in an anti-drug trafficking campaign launched by the Alaska High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) initiative this month. The 'Catch and Detain' campaign, through digital advertising, encourages Alaskans to report drug trafficking activity to local, state, or federal law enforcement, or securely online through the AKTips smartphone app. By doing so, Alaskans can help save countless lives from overdose, as the FBI and our law enforcement partners work to mitigate the threat of illicit fentanyl and other dangerous drugs across Alaska.
“Every tip to law enforcement in Alaska—anonymous or otherwise—helps in our pursuit of safer communities,” said Acting Special Agent in Charge Brandon Waddle of the FBI Anchorage Field Office. “Strengthened by public reporting, the FBI, together with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, will continue to disrupt drug trafficking networks, remove dangerous drugs from our neighborhoods, and bring accountability to those who dare to engage in such illicit activities.”
The Alaska HIDTA program, which received its designation from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in May 2018, is spread throughout the state and includes partnerships between local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The FBI Anchorage Field Office has been a participating agency of the Alaska HIDTA program to remove illicit fentanyl and other dangerous drugs from communities throughout Alaska.
The FBI Anchorage Field Office and participating HIDTA law enforcement agencies are encouraging the public to report suspicious drug trafficking activity to AKtips, which can be done quickly online while remaining anonymous. Just download the AKTips smartphone app for iOS or Android. Alternatively, you can submit a tip securely online at the following website: akhidta.org or text the keyword AKTIPS, followed by your crime tip to 847411. The public can also report drug trafficking information to the FBI Anchorage Field Office at 907-276-4441 or online at tips.fbi.gov.
