Jason Iovino Advocates for Organ Transplant Awareness and Patient Support
Jason Iovino of Lexington, South Carolina, shares his personal journey to raise awareness about organ donation, patient resilience, and community support.
LEXINGTON, SC / ACCESS Newswire / April 20, 2026 /Jason Iovino, a Product and Project Engineer in the medical device industry, is using his personal story to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation and support for transplant patients.
After facing lifelong health challenges, including a kidney transplant in 2015 and a liver transplant in 2025, Iovino is speaking out to highlight both the medical need and the human side of transplantation.

The Growing Need for Organ Donation
Organ donation remains a critical public health issue. According to transplant data, over 100,000 people in the United States are currently waiting for a life-saving organ. Each day, approximately 17 people die waiting for a transplant.
Despite these numbers, only a fraction of eligible donors are registered.

His own experience underscores that reality. Living with hepatic fibrosis from birth, Iovino faced ongoing complications that disrupted his education and daily life. Years later, his condition progressed, leading to multiple organ failures.

Following his recovery, Iovino has taken on a new role-advocating for awareness and emotional support for those going through similar experiences.
He volunteers to speak in focus groups with individuals awaiting liver or kidney transplants. His goal is simple: help others stay hopeful during uncertain times.
"I understand what it feels like to wait, " he says. "If I can help someone feel less alone, that matters. "
His message focuses not only on survival, but on resilience.

Why Support Systems Matter
Beyond medical care, Iovino emphasizes the role of family, community, and faith in recovery.

For Iovino, that support extended into his faith community as well. As an active member of the Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church, he continues to stay engaged and give back.

Today, Iovino has returned to his engineering career in medical device manufacturing, where he contributes to technologies that improve patient outcomes. His work and his advocacy are closely aligned.
