GM's 49,000 workers in U.S. set to strike at midnight after contract talks break down, UAW says
The union representing about 49,000 General Motors workers in the U.S. said they would go on strike at midnight Sunday night because contract negotiations with the automaker had broken down. "We do not take this lightly," one UAW vice-president said following meetings in Detroit.
